A Pavilion (閣) often signifies the literal building (pavilion) that a major figure in a clan resides in. It usually even has its own area carved out within the larger clan compound. For example, the clan head’s brothers or sons or wives could have their own pavilions. Each pavilion often has its own name designated for it.
